ZVK - A Soliloquy Lyrics
Official

So
Lately I find myself having the same conversation
Giving answers to questions that I thought I knew
And cracked mirrors exposed my truest reflection
How I underestimated the importance in awareness of self
And it's still a story untold
But I'm talking from my forefathers proudest achievements
Passed down to the follicles from which my mother braids my hair in rhythm
To the masked insecurities and my deepest regrets that
I hide underneath the grooves in my soul
But it's easy to lose yourself
In this world full of noise
Full of "You're wrong and I'm right's"
And polarized opinions turn into internet fights
And performative outrage over unprovoked violence, I mean
Sometimes the best thing I ever heard was silence
It's something technically more impressive
Like taking these multicolored confessions
And using black and white keys to express them, yeah
To me, from me
Two hundred and eighty-five months later and this the first note to self?
No judgment
I know these nosy people listen and look through the blinds but
Know this note ain't for nobody else
You know the cards you were dealt
But I built this house on a rock
So every little stone they throw
Could only ever strengthen these foundations
You were raised by a village
You're as calculated as your father
As militant as your mother
And that's when love overflows
Redefining stereotypes for a boy with the pigment
The introvert who screamed so loud that they had to listen
And felt fulfilled when I made a difference
So fly and roam free
And take pride when it all falls down
