Now the summer is gone and winter has come
We all seem so fearful of life slipping away
Sun of the west softly burning so bright
Silent skies forced to linger
Waiting for the longest night
I've been to the hills
Wide prairies and the docks
For time never waits
And all roads know how to walk
I'm cast in strange old worries and strife
Troubled rush that I fear to tread
Heading to the longest night
Many journeys I have made
Many abandoned at stake
Many callings of the soul
That I could never forsake
But no one can say
I didn't try to do things right
Often I get weary with thought
Many about the longest night
I'm ready for the next move
And changes of the ride
But I never know which to go by
My heart or my mind
Some things aren't worth
One second of your time
Some bad turns have to be made twice
On our way to the longest night
