The Parkway is a Hard Road to Travel
Bruce Gewirz
One day I went around, just to get across the town
Since attendance was condition of employment,
And I knew I had to go where the traffic doesn't flow,
Since the Green line hasn't made its first deployment.
cho: So, roll up your windows now, and crank up the air;
The Parkway is a hard road to travel.
So, roll up your windows now, and crank up the air;
The Parkway is a hard road to travel, if you dare.
So I took the Parkway down, as I started on around,
To get south where I could get across the river.
Blue Plains was on my right, with the traffic sitting tight
And the smell was worse than over-age raw liver.
cho:
With the Wilson up in sight, I got over to the right
Since the backup was a bit over a mile.
For a half an hour or so, I could see the left lane go
While the right lane sat and waited for the while.
cho:
When I finally saw the ramp, I just sat and set up camp,
As the left lane took the exit that I needed.
I had seen them all zip past, as I waited to the last
While Willie Don's new signs just went unheeded.
