• Composer Lalo Schifrin was hired by producer Bruce Geller in the '60s to write the theme song for the television series, Mission: Impossible, which the current Tom Cruise film franchise is based on.
• The Mission: Impossible theme, is one of the most recognizable themes in film and TV history.
• The title sequence began with the lighting of a fuse. The hand with the match was, until sometime in the sixth season, that of creator Bruce Geller.
• In the 1988 revival series, the hand belonged to Peter Graves.
