Tony Peek - Bottle Alley Lyrics

In Bottle Alley eyes stung when I was young
And I begged for my mother to come home
My sister and me, she was only three
And I sort of brought her up on my own
In the roar of the waves in the winter
In the heat of the midsummer sun
It's hard not to crack and to splinter
When at eight years Childhood is done

In Bottle Alley the sun it finds everyone
But it cannot make wishes come true
She had money to smoke and to drink and to joke
But very little left for us two
And we walked home alone
Through the streets
Where the normal kids roam
And I'd try and find enough food for two.

In Bottle Alley the wind it knows if you've sinned
And it sends demons dancing at your feet
My sister and me, she was only three
And we stole from our mother to eat
And we walked home with hearts of stone
And ate chips on the sofa alone
And I tried to imagine a better world for you.

He said that he loved her and that he dreamed of her
But then he put a bottle in her head
In rubies of glass and emeralds of class
She died with Bottle Alley as her bed
And we walked home alone
Through the streets
Where the normal kids roam
And I tried to imagine a better world for you
