Ol Pepper was a dog that daddy didn't want
Sunday afternoons you'd find them napping on the porch
I swear that dog rode in that flatbed more time than not
Til' daddy showed up all alone that windy day in March
In our family daddy was the glue
But when he sat in my room
I saw something I never seen him do
I've seen him grab a bull by the horns and turn it on it's side
Seen him run into a fire just to make it out alive
He cut down that big oak tree we lost on a summer day
Would show more power in all the words he didn't say
Used to lift me up high up in the sky
But the strongest thing I ever saw my daddy do
Was Cry
His job was hard but he made every first call
A heart weighed down by the ones he couldn't save
Mom was there to catch him every time he'd fall
Thank God for us that He made men so brave
I've seen him grab a bull by the horns and turn it on it's side
Seen him run into a fire just to make it out alive
He cut down that big oak tree we lost on a summer day
Would show more power in all the words he didn't say
Used to lift me up high up in the sky
But the strongest thing I ever saw my daddy do
Was Cry
In the world these days, tears can seem so weak
But they don't to me
I've seen him grab a bull by the horns and turn it on it's side
Seen him run into a fire just to make it out alive
He cut down that big oak tree we lost on a summer day
Would show more power in all the words he didn't say
Used to lift me up high up in the sky
But the strongest thing I ever saw my daddy do
Was Cry
