Tone Deaf Poet - Beyond The Veil Of Vanity 2 Lyrics

Beyond The Veil Of Vanity

You think erroneously
Pretend you have all the
Answers to life's great mysteries
But therein lies the tragedy
The sad irony, the problem
And the solution are you and me

In case you blink
Worried eyes they are deceived
When moments lack clarity
These days find me raggedy
I see what I want to see
Beyond the veil of vanity

Drink the magic elixirs sparingly
You don't know the side-effects
Of the remedy to the nights
Of never/ending misery
Whenever you say the rest is history
The circle of courage remains incomplete

We all tinkered around the periphery
Reaping nothing but tough love
Brutal truths, stacked odds,
Diplomacy without tact
The rest of the puzzle requires
Years of mastery, you ain't got old sod

You can talk all you like about adding
New wrinkles to prevail where
Others have failed before
However your predicament
Isn't as cut and dried as following in the
Footsteps of they who blazed your trail

And your gaze no longer twinkles
How it did when I met you
Lurking in the shadows
Hoping to snag another
Unsung hero to call your
Number with all the added zeros

Amassing untold fortunes stink
In abysses of loneliness
Where two poor souls
That seemingly had it all can sink
Looks will fade, big brains through time
Degrade until you rue your own phoniness

And before you pay a tidy sum
To a no good shrink, green light me
To guide you, watch over you knowingly
As you make the transition
From scrounging for your next meal to
Lounging with fat cats who kept it real

Squint a little and you'll notice
Ink stained wretches
Penning one last testament of faith
And sin, whatever you do in the privacy
Of your room, in your abode of doom
Don't let your overwhelming fear win
