Got the job, moved to the big city
Everything in life should be pretty
Close to my family, lending them help
But still not sure what life's about
What if I went away
What if I started again and again
Would they all still be okay
Would they all still be my friends
I keep a foot out the door
And keep my guard help up
So when it all hits the floor
At least I have a back up
I don't know whether to stay or go
I'm being who I'm supposed to be
Doing the things I supposed to do
Will I ever just be happy
I try my best to be nice
And help out where I can
But some folks are cold as ice
And I just don't understand
I keep a foot out the door
And keep my guard help up
So when it all hits the floor
At least I have a back up
Maybe it'll all work out
Everything will just fall into place
Maybe I won't be a shutout
But I'll keep a plan just in case
I keep a foot out the door
And keep my guard help up
So when it all hits the floor
At least I have a back up
