In the afternoon summer wind and sun
Everyone's back where they first came from
And the leaves peel back like blackberry dreams on the lawn
Esmerelda and Opie stopped frowning
And half of their wrinkles are gone
Memories transfer like washed out clothes
Peggy got sprayed with the garden hose
And Willie hid up in the old woodpile for a dime
And nothing is taken too serious
In this little corner of time
A sea of good nature is in the park
And the tide won't go out 'til the sun goes dark
And the panhandlers wander on empty streets in the town
All the children sing rings around Rosie
They laugh on the grass and fall down
And the tree leaves whisper sounds
