The chest was shining
When I walked to the room
X sometimes marks the spot
If you know where to look
The choir was chanting
Songs that no one had heard
Sometimes the words are simple
Life ain't a test
The priest said
"Son, you're not allowed here
This is a convent, not a home"
Slipped past the angels and the Gargoyles
The chest was empty
And the light went on
And so I walked
I walked and walked, my fingers crossed
Through countless miles and scarlet roads
Feels like I'm riding
But I never arrive
I tried to tame my demons many years ago
So I took them with me
Out on the road
They say that rock and roll is bad for my soul
The blues are with me, baby, anywhere I go
I was a rebel and a traitor
After I finished I moved on
I sell my voice and nothing else now
But I was disrupted by the end of the world
A vision formed
Come save us, come ye men of hope
It's raining plagues, the good guys lost
I'll keep on walking
On a burning trail
I see a kingdom born and bred in the night
For years you waited but He never arrived
I see they stopped the war and looked at the time
I see that heaven's here
And so is the pyre
You've paid with gold
You've paid with blood and raised a storm
For every child that has been shot
I must be moving
But I'll never arrive
Ten million corpses will arise from the ground
And they'll carve deep in stone
The life they were denied
And you'll cry
And ask me why
The dead don't die
They simply walk
And they shall walk amongst us, watch
Walk past the lines you choose to cross
If I don't make it
Well, at least know I tried
