Well, Santa's workshop closed at five
But I'm here at midnight, barely alive
The clock says twelve, it's time to roll
Pushin' carts like I've got no soul
Boxes piled up to the sky
"Need it on the shelf?" Sure, I'll try
Reindeer don't come down this way
Just me and my coffee, savin' the day
Oh, I'm the shelf-elf workin' the floor (the floor)
Packin' their dreams while they ask for more (for more)
Runnin' on fumes and holiday tunes
Feelin' like a Grinch by the light of the moon
Aisle four's got glitter everywhere
And wrapping paper tearing like I care
Customer complaints? I'm all outta stock
I just smile and nod-tickin' the clock
"Where's the magic?" they wanna know
It's buried under this mountain of snow
Oh, I'm the shelf-elf workin' the floor (the floor)
Packin' their dreams while they ask for more (for more)
Deckin' these halls with sweat and pain
And all I get is a candy cane
Oh, they'll shop 'til they drop, but I'm still here
Dodgin' boxes and reindeer sneers
If Christmas spirit's what they've got
They should bottle it up- I could use a shot
Oh, I'm the shelf-elf workin' the floor (the floor)
Packin' their dreams while they ask for more (for more)
Jingle bells, yeah, what a thrill
I'm stocking shelves while they're footin' the bill
So here's to the elves, the unseen crew
Making it happen for shoppers like you
Next year, I'll write to Santa's board
And ask if retail workers can get a reward
