A distant flicker in the night
A dying star that births new light
The weary traveller looks behind him
A world once luscious, now destroyed
And still he stares into the void
His hope that someday someone finds him
Alone, onwards he rolls
Into the dark
Nightmares persist in his waking sleep
No sense of time
Days become years
His only solace, the faith that he keeps
A thousand years or more have passed
Each one longer than the last
The dwelling sailing unencumbered
His mind, once racing, now it slows
And deep within the traveller knows
He'll never waken from his slumber
Alone, onwards he rolls
Into the dark
Nightmares persist in his waking sleep
No sense of time
Days become years
Searching for solace
On and on
Knowing forever that he is the last one to live
All alone
Awake in a nightmare he dreams as he longs for death
The days to turn to years
As the decades and centuries fade
Species evolve
As the traveller revolves in his cage
Alone, onwards he rolls
Into the dark
Nightmares persist in his waking sleep
No sense of time
Days become years
He finds no solace
