Sleep comes and in my dreams
Images of bouncing planes
Over the clouds they fly
And I feel safe a while
Sleep comes in my dreams
Images of bouncing planes
Over the clouds they fly
And I feel safe a while
The rain is the river bird
It climbs up high then dives
Back down again to this earth
Entrenched in scary spotlight
In pastures wide unknown
Bubbling up through memories
Of soil and old land's bones
The roots of pure and verdant homes
Carve their mark on minds and lives
Etched in flesh and stone
These sights are quite deceiving
In the morning light
The rain is the river bird
It climbs up high then dives
Back down again to this earth
Entrenched in scary spotlight
The sea brings new treasures to the land
Traded for silt and sand
Small hands gather rocks on beaches
While I lay blissfully speechless
Sometimes I pretend that I'm hiding again
From the words that appear in my brain
Thoughts to confuse and lose me
In my ego's unscripted refrain
The rain is the river bird
It climbs up high then dives
Back down again to this earth
Entrenched in scary spotlight
