Skull Smith - River Tune Lyrics
Official

I gave myself a river that had no flow
Not one that I could sail on down with ease
They gifted me a sailboat with no escrow
But what good is a sailboat without breeze
And when I reach the junction
I will question every function
Of all that I've acquired along the way
For aimless navigation
Through my own innovation
Might be enough to lead my ship astray
I gave myself a mountain that had no peak
A snowcap far above the atmosphere
I made myself a promise to stand oblique
So that the sky may never disappear
The antiquated wisdom
Of my plantigraded system
Suggests that I could tumble any time
But safety on the level
Will deprive me of a bevel
And no one sees the view without a climb
Bells will chime
I'll row on down the river, my oars aflame
Through vista points that no one's ever found
I'll scale that endless mountain and stake my claim
Halfway between the heavens and the ground
Ten thousand old explorers
Premonish traps and horrors
Through atlases on which they've spilled their stew
But closely if you listen
You will hear their pupils glisten
And pray one day the raconteur is you
Yes you do
You'll come across a river that has no flow
As stagnant as a Jello reservoir
And if you doubt the endpoint, just start to row
And suddenly but surely, there you are
