Skillet - Revolution Album Lyrics

Skillet - Revolution Lyrics

Showtime

Ready, set, showtime
Heart of a lion is roarin in my soul
Truth is trapped like a fire in my bones
Make my mark no apologies
A day in the life, a revolutionary
Here we go, here we go, here we go
Chorus
My life
High life
King over my empire
Nothing's gonna stop me
It's showtime
One chance one shot
Talk is cheap so what ya got
World is gonna watch me
It's Showtime
Tonight's the night we make history
You gotta fight to take victory
Showtime
Here we go ready or not
Showtime
Here we go
What you got

Scorpions snakes and the devil on my heels
But I'm gonna get mine it ain't no big deal
Got no time for your sympathy
A day in the life, a revolutionary

Make my mark, no apologies
A day in a life of revolutionaries

Unpopular

Am I the only one who ain't come undone?
Everybody's lost their dang minds
When you check your feed, it's like clown tv
And you're waitin' for the punchline

(Oh my, my, hey, yeah)
Guess I'm a loner in the crowd
(Oh my, my, hey, yeah)
Guess I'm the one you've been talkin' about
(Guess I'm the one you've been talkin' about)

Unpopular, unpopular
Call me out, clasp down, can't supplement true facts
Have you heard? I'm a commoner
Got my family, sanity, everything I need
If freedom is disease
Who would ever want to be
Popular? For what it's worth
I think today's a good day to be unpopular

I won't apologize when I speak my mind
I'm just bein' me, so lay off
If they can fool myself, it's called raisin' hell
I guess that I'm an outlaw (woo)

(Oh my, my, hey, yeah)
I ain't a loner in the crowd
(Oh my, my, hey, yeah)
Guess we about to be gettin' loud
Guess we about to be gettin' loud

Unpopular, unpopular
Call me out, clasp down, can't supplement true facts
Have you heard? I'm a commoner
Got my family, sanity, everything I need
If freedom is disease
Who would ever want to be
Popular? For what it's worth
I think today's a good day to be unpopular

To be unpopular

Guess I'm the one you've been talkin' 'bout (talkin' 'bout)
Guess I'm the one you've been talkin' 'bout (talkin' 'bout)
Guess I'm the one you've been talkin' 'bout (talkin' 'bout)
I guess I am the one (whatever)

Unpopular, unpopular
Call me out, clasp down, can't supplement true facts
Have you heard? I'm a commoner
Got my family, sanity, everything I need
If freedom is disease
Who would ever want to be
Popular? For what it's worth

All That Matters

I don't wanna start a fight
I always try to do what's right
So put your weapons down
We can work it out
Don't get me wrong, I ain't no pacifist
For peace, gotta pay a price
And I'll defend what is mine
Fight for what I love
Help me God above
All it takes is one
To rise up and resist

Cost you everything
When you're at war
These three things I'd die for

My faith, my family, my freedom
That's what's backin' me
Gives me a reason for living
I gotta fight for what I believe in, believe it
Love loyalty, I pledge fidelity
In this land of liberty, it's everything
My faith, my family, my freedom's
All that matters to me

A kid arrested in the town
He read the verses too loud
But burn the cities down
Celebs will bail you out
Where'd we go wrong
I can't make sense of this
So just leave the kids alone
Better not break into this home
'Cause where I come from
We always stand as one
Where we belong
We won't stand for this

Cost you everything
When you're at war
These three things I'd die for

My faith, my family, my freedom
That's what's backin' me
Gives me a reason for living
I gotta fight for what I believe in, believe it
Love loyalty, I pledge fidelity
In this land of liberty, it's everything
My faith, my family, my freedom's
All that matters to me, ohh-oh-oh
To me, ohh-oh-oh

When darkness divides us
I believe that love can conquer all
Courageous, united
We stand or fall
My faith, my family, my freedom

My faith, my family, my freedom
That's what's backin' me
Gives me a reason for living
I gotta fight for what I believe in, believe it
Love loyalty, I pledge fidelity
In this land of liberty, it's everything
My faith, my family, my freedom's
All that matters to me (it's all that matters to me), ohh-oh-oh
To me (it's all that matters to me), ohh-oh-oh
It's all that matters to me

Not Afraid

Escape from the past that was stolen
And all your toxic fumes inhaled
The scapegoat of angels who've fallen
But my soul is not for sale

Even though you tore me up
Left me with sores and blood
I was (suffering)
You could never break my will
It made me stronger still
I was (smothering)

(I can't breathe)

Spent my whole life living underground
Foot on my back trying to keep me down
Come too far to turn back now
I am not afraid

I will keep the faith
Never back down 'til my dying day
Staring death straight in the face
I am not afraid

My life, my heart, my soul
I'm not afraid
My breath, my blood, my all
I'm not afraid

You thought you would always control me
You clipped my wings my dreams in two
I guess that you don't even know me
'Cause I'll never be like you

And even though the threat is real
My backbones made of steel
I'm fine (suffering)
And when the pressures in my face
I'll never bow or break
'Cause I'm (not afraid)

(I can't breathe)

Spent my whole life living underground
Foot on my back trying to keep me down
Come too far to turn back now
I am not afraid

I will keep the faith
Never back down 'til my dying day
Staring death straight in the face
I am not afraid

I can't breathe

Revolution

Ohh-oh-ohh, sing a revolution song

Lost the future generations
Face-to-face, can't communicate
And we can't tell the truth from faking
Lives and innocents wasted
Laced, encased with a hopeless hate
With an emptiness we're chasing

Facing the raging seas
Facing the storm in me
Am I the only who's had enough?
Darkest before the dawn
Some say it's too far gone
But I believe that there's time to save us

Ohh-oh-ohh, sing a revolution song
We got the fire of hope in our hearts
March to the beat of love

Ohh-oh-ohh, we're more than millions strong
Our time is here, nothing to fear
Sing a revolution song (revolution)

Streets lined up with a vengeance
Broken homes, all the broken souls
Disposables in the abyss
Lost our will to be human
Bow or break on the waves we face
We know we ain't escaping

Facing the raging seas
Facing the storm in me
Am I the only one who's had enough?
Darkest before the dawn
Some say it's too far gone
But I believe that there's time to save us

Ohh-oh-ohh, sing a revolution song
We got the fire of hope in our hearts
March to the beat of love

Ohh-oh-ohh, we're more than millions strong
Our time is here, nothing to fear
Sing a revolution song

(Revolution) faith
(Revolution) hope
Love
(Revolution)

Hey, hey, it's a revolution
Hey, hey, it's a revolution (revolution)
Hey, hey, it's a revolution

Ohh-oh-ohh, sing a revolution song
We got the fire of hope in our hearts
March to the beat of love

Ohh-oh-ohh (it's a revolution)
We're more than millions strong (it's a revolution)
Our time is here, nothing to fear (it's a revolution)
Sing a revolution song (it's a revolution)

Hey, hey, it's a revolution (it's a revolution)
Hey, hey, it's a revolution (it's a revolu-)

Ash in the Wind

What am I supposed to do?

I wanna break out but I'm frozen
I've been here so long that it hurts just to feel
I wanna take back what you've stolen
I'm searching inside for what's real

Silenced, compliant
Your words were your power over me
Rising, defiant
The person inside you never see

Tossed and torn
But I won't be ignored
There's so much more to me
What am I supposed to do?

I wanna break out but I'm frozen
I've been here so long that it hurts just to feel
I wanna take back what you've stolen
I'm searching inside for what's real
I can feel it under my skin
I was made for more than this
All your power disappears
Like ash in the wind

Two way mirror
You locked me inside this cage of glass
Screaming, fists beating
But no one was ever seeing past

Take control
'Cause I won't be ignored
There's so much more to me
What am I supposed to do?

I wanna break out but I'm frozen
I've been here so long that it hurts just to feel
I wanna take back what you've stolen
I'm searching inside for what's real
I can feel it under my skin
I was made for more than this
All your power disappears
Like ash in the wind

What am I supposed to do?
Gotta free myself from you
What am I supposed to do?
To do
What am I supposed to do?

I wanna break out but I'm frozen (but I'm frozen)
I've been here so long that it hurts just to feel
I wanna take back what you've stolen (what you've stolen)
I'm searching inside for what's real
I can feel it under my skin
I was made for more than this
All your power disappears
Like ash in the wind

What am I supposed to do?
Gotta free myself from you

Fire Inside of Me

What's happening around me?
I don't recognize this place
Like a vagabond, I roam
With no home or peace

Don't tell me how to live my life
I know that I'm not fine

Ohh-oh-ohh, am I still breathing?
Ohh-oh-ohh, how do I try again?

I can't live (here I go again)
Why exist? (I'm alone again)
I wanna change the world
I wanna save the world
But I can't even save myself

Why believe (help me love again)
In anything (I'm alone again)
When everything you love
Is gone and left you numb
Is it too late to ask for help?

My soul's asleep
Light the fire inside of me

Anxiety surrounds me
I don't recognize myself
Would you abandon me and go
If my facade fell?

You're the reason I can live my life
I need you one more time

Ohh-oh-ohh, am I still breathing?
Ohh-oh-ohh, can you help me start again?

I can't live (here I go again)
Why exist? (I'm alone again)
I wanna change the world
I wanna save the world
But I can't even save myself

Why believe (help me love again)
In anything (I'm alone again)
When everything you love
Is gone and left you numb
Is it too late to ask for help?

My soul's asleep
Light the fire inside of me

Fire inside of me

Cold and numb, I need to feel alive
Your touch, your life, your fire

Ohh-oh-ohh, am I still breathing?
Ohh-oh-ohh, can you help me start again?

I can't live (here I go again)
Why exist? (I'm alone again)
I wanna change the world
I wanna save the world
But I can't even save myself

Why believe (help me love again)
In anything (I'm alone again)
When everything you love
Is gone and left you numb
Is it too late to ask for help?

Here I go again
I'm alone again
I wanna change the world
I wanna save the world
But I can't even save myself

My soul's asleep
Light the fire inside of me

Inside of me

What's happening around me? Around me, around me

Defector

Lies
All your so called friends that left you behind
And your insecurities are the only thing that you believe
Everyone feels like they're faking
You disappear into the crowd
Right behind your smiling face
Inside your bleeding out

I will be your light when you can't see
I will be your breath when you can't breathe
I know the battle you've been through
I'm never backing out on you
Even when nobody else believes
I will be the one who never leaves
I'll be at your side forever
I will never be a defector
I will never be a Defector

Gone
All your never-answered prayers left you numb
And your insecurities are the only thing you ever see
Maybe love's a chance worth taking
If you let me show you how
Start again reverse the breaking
Stop the bleeding out

Happy Wedding Day (Alex's Song)

Me and mom were working at the speed of light
Trying to be parents, trying to live right
Guess we made it
And I wouldn't change a thing

Everybody said you've got your daddy's eyes
You were my princess, you were my pride
Now you're grown up
Can't believe how things have changed

Now look at you standing in your white dress
Where'd the time go? Not prepared for this
It's rushing back to me like flash flood
But I remember
All the nights

Leave the dishes out and we'd put you to bed
Say no to one more story that I wish I'd have read
I didn't know then
It'd come to an end
And I want it back now

We started out with dreams and love and nothing more
We ate from paper bags and we slept on the floor
Sometimes we weren't sure
'Bout this adventure
But you made us so proud

I blinked, it went faster than a freight train
Happy wedding day

Being on the road like a circus act
The highlight of the night was to hear you laugh
Guess we made it
But it's a little quiet now

Planes, trains, buses, they were all you knew
Companions, best friends, survivors too
We had some hard times
But they never kept us down

Now look at you standing in your white dress
Where'd the time go not prepared for this
It's rushing back to me like flash flood
And I remember
All the nights

Leave the dishes out and we'd put you to bed
Say no to one more story that I wish I'd have read
I didn't know then
It'd come to an end
And I want it back now

We started out with dreams and love and nothing more
We ate from paper bags and we slept on the floor
Sometimes we weren't sure
'Bout this adventure
But you made us so proud

I blinked, it went faster than a freight train
Happy wedding day

Happy wedding day
Yeah, I remember
All the nights

Leave the dishes out and we'd put you to bed

I didn't know then
It'd come to an end
It's rushing back now

Death Defier

Through the desert sand
I'm a wanted man
Nine lives
I never die
Got a bullet proof heart born playing with fire
Got my hands on the wheel
I got faith of steel
Good luck taking me down take a good look son get a load of me now\

Forged in flames
High octane
Here I come
Better get out my way

I'm pushing past all the limits
From dusk 'til dawn every minute
It's burning down to the wire
I'm a death defier
Just out here daring the devil
Got my lead foot on the pedal
Red line can't get any higher
I'm a death defier

All the fearless ones
All the fallen sons
Glory that never fades cause they paid with pain and a trail to blaze

Forged in flames
High octane
Here I come
Better get out my way

I'm pushing past all the limits
From dusk 'til dawn every minute
I'm a death defier
I was forged in flames
Get out of my way
Born to play with fire
I'm a defier

Revolution is the twelfth studio album by American Christian rock band Skillet. It was released on November 1, 2024. It is the first Skillet album to be released independently. It is their first album in nearly three years since January 2022's Dominion

With regard to the album title and theme, Skillet frontman John Cooper explains that "the revolution we're talking about on this record is not a political revolution, [and] it is certainly not a militaristic one, which I've never supported. It's a revolution for love. It's a revolution to love your enemies."
On the album cover, the band flag Cooper holds has "1 COR 13:13" printed in the lower-right corner, referring to the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians. The verse reads, "But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love." (NASB1995) It is the shortest Skillet album to date.
