In the Scottish highlands
As the sun disappears into night
There's a man on the road to see a professor
An anonymous village, on the other side of the loch
Did you ever see
Glasgow on a Saturday night
The sparkling streets, colored neon lights
The friends and lovers that I left behind
To be a crofter's wife
God made the country
Man made the town
With hands old and weathered
He rules with terror, she dreams of another
Could I stay for the night?, I'll leave in the morning, I'll never forget you
There's a siren calling
Away in the distance
But ever closer
I don't want to go
I'm afraid I have to
I'll kiss you farewell
And in a flash I'll be gone
As the shadows creep back into her mind
She resigns herself to a lonely life
In the paper she reads of a man on the run
He understood her, he was the only one
