Running down the highway
Sun setting in my eyes
Taking the red highway
Up to the Great Divide
My soul felt stretched out
Wide as the western sky

My heart stretched out its wings
I heard an eagle scream
Then a seed fell
It went looking for a place to hide
It found a home in the wasteland

A roadside stop
In the middle of a mountain bend
Walked up in the canyon
Didn't know what treasure it hid
The essence of life
Came raining down on my head
A towering waterfall
Lay At the rainbow's end
The eagle turned his head
The healing water
Washed the dirt right off my hide
It softened up the wasteland
