R.O.T.T - The Bird in a 28 Bar Cage Lyrics

The world is a funny place
Run through the money made
By the exploitation
Of glorified slaves
I know 'cause I lived it
12 Hours a day
On my feet with a break
For just 30 minutes
5 Days a week
For about 100 bills
Paid at the end of it
Now I'm no sentimentalist
But that shit got even me down
Thinkin' all about
How some support families
And get paid equally
Low incomes for their labors
Well you should've stayed in school
Now you pay the price you fool
Yeah, I mean I got up to college
But had to drop out when the voices
In my head started to yell
At me in class to go to hell
And I'm not sayin' this to moisten
Your eyes or beg for your pity
I was born this way and shitty
As it may be I deserve it
For misusin' psychedelics
Knowin' it'd exacerbate
My latent mental disorder

But yeah, anyway
I'm medicated these days
And only suffer minor delusions
That I filter out with logic
So I should go back to college
Just so that there's no confusion
I live in a third world country
A little south of Hollywood
And I don't mean the hoods
Of Los Angeles county
I mean I live in TJ
And that's why I was paid
At that minimum wage
Even though I could commute
I don't think I have it in me
To cross the border every day
At the ass crack of dawn
To work an American job
So I settled for a factory
That paid relatively
Well in comparison
To others. I share this in
The hopes that you will know
You're not alone in your struggles
Tryin' hard as f*ck to hustle
In this world when you're grown
