I was walking down the road in the midday sun
When I noticed a car going my way, so I stuck out my thumb
That was 500 miles ago
I was turning for home on my morning run
When I passed by a sign for the highway, when all is said and done
There was only one way to know
She said she needed some time and a little space
To be sure, that mine was the face that she wanted to see
When she opened her eyes
Yesterday's gone, can't go back or change anything
Got to move on, let's see what tomorrow will bring
I was driving down the road in the evening sun
When I noticed someone going my way, then she stuck out her thumb
That was quite a long time ago
I had gotten to the place where the day is done
And enjoying a good sun-downer, and we were having fun
There was only one way to go
She said she'd waited so long to become complete
For someone, to help her to realize all her dreams
And I guess I'm the one
Yesterday's gone, can't go back or change anything
Got to move on, let's see what tomorrow will bring
Yesterday's gone, can't go back or change anything
Got to move on, let's see what tomorrow will bring
