Robert Elijah Kollman - Crazy Jane Lyrics

Crazy Jane sat on the doorstep
Of a house she used to know
Its where her Mama died
Her father tried
To keep things up and goin'
But her father left
And her granny came
Well, her granny died
What a twist of fate
For Crazy Jane
On a bedroom wall
Where she once stayed
She drew a family tree
She imagined a mother
A father and brother
And the places they could be
Well, they sailed the sea
They went to Barcelona
Saw a beach in Fiji
That's where she learned to hula
Our Crazy Jane
But when her granny died
The government came
And took Jane someplace new
It had whitewashed walls and cotton sheets
The whole place smelt unused
Within three short weeks
The state cut funding
Jane was out on the street
All alone with nothing
Poor Crazy Jane
So, Jane went uptown
And found a park
Wrapped in a blanket from off the road
Within the fallin' leaves and birds and trees
She found a new place to call home
But the man came
Kept Jane a'moving
Nowhere to go
And with winter looming
Then Jane saw a face
From beneath the bridge
He had a scar across his eye
He said my name is Joe, come in from the cold
Let me fix you something nice
And through the winter
They held each other
It was Joe and Jane
Them and no other
Joe's Crazy Jane
As Spring approached
Joe with hope
Went to find a job
But the hours passed, and Jane ran fast
Hearing Joe had been robbed
Well, she found his body
Lifeless in the snow
He was killed for nothing
And nothing alone
Oh, Crazy Jane
Crazy Jane sat on the doorstep
Of a house she used to know
It's where her mama died
Her father tried
To keep things up and goin'
Then she blew a kiss
She left that town
She calls the road her home
You might see her around
Our Crazy Jane
