This guided meditation is about letting go of control and embracing the greatness of the mystery of life
There is so much we don't know
Life is one great mystery
Through the practice of mindfulness we can begin to embrace the mystery and enjoy the
Beauty of that mystery
Imagine being a child lying in the grass and looking up at the clouds seeing images
Float by in the clouds always changing creating a mini-movie
This one looks like a galloping horse and that one looks like a castle
As we grow older we learn what clouds are made of
Maybe we learn that this cloud is a cumulus and that one is a cumulonimbus or a cirrus
And while the clouds haven't changed our experience of them may change
We go to work and find less time to lie in the grass and look up at the art in the sky
Today we'll explore reawakening our senses to once again experience the childlike wonder
Of being alive
Take a moment to get comfortable sit or lie down and begin to soften your muscles
Deepen your breath and as you breathe notice what your body needs
Take some time to explore
Allow the body to fully settle maybe adjusting your position and once you find comfort
Commit to stillness
Close your eyes or find a soft unfocused gaze if you prefer to keep your eyes open
Open your eyes soften your brows and become aware of any sensations in this part of the
Face
Signs of life
Become aware of the sounds around you allowing each sound to be a reminder that you are alive
You are here
What a gift that is
Allow your ears to soften the muscles of your scalp soften
Become aware of your jaw
Unclench your jaw allowing a bit of space between your top and bottom rows of teeth
Feel for any sensations inside of your mouth swallow and allow your tongue and throat to relax
Become aware of your shoulders if they feel tense invite them to soften and let go
And your arms feeling for a sensation perhaps you feel the sun or wind on your skin
The textures of clothing
Feel your hands and allow your hands to soften
Become aware of the difference in sensation in the palm of your hands and the backs of your hands
And take a moment in gratitude for your hands
These hands that can reach out and touch a friend cook a meal write a message
You experience so much through your hands what a gift
Feel the aliveness of your hands
Bring your awareness to your heart
Feel the beat of your heart the pulsing rhythm that quickens as you dance and slows as you rest
Take a deep breath into your heart and allow yourself to feel gratitude for your heart
Feel the aliveness of your heart
Bring your awareness to your belly allow your belly to soften
Take a deep breath into your soft belly
Become aware of any sensations in your belly like hunger or fullness
Take another deep breath into your belly
And another
Feel it rise and fall with your breath
Feel the aliveness of your belly
Bring your awareness into your pelvis
Feel any sensations in your pelvis
Travel awareness down through your legs noticing textures temperatures and anything else you feel
Bring your awareness down into your feet
Allow your feet to soften
Notice any sensations in your feet
Your feet that take you everywhere you want to go
Your feet that dance that walk through grass through sand
Feel the aliveness of your feet
Become aware of your breath
There's no need to control or change the breath
Like you it's perfect just as it is
Feel the rise and fall of your belly and your chest as you breathe
Allow yourself to be relaxed open and receptive to each breath
Receive each breath as a gift a gift of aliveness
Feel your body expand with this gift of breath
Rest in an open presence that allows you to feel the changing sensations of your breath
Your whole body breathing and expanding with breath
If your attention drifts away into thought as it naturally does gently bring your awareness back to the breath without judgment
Come back to feeling the sensation of your breath the sensations in your body
Back to this present moment
When we drift away into thought we lose touch with our senses
It happens easily and naturally
Each time you catch yourself drifting away and mindfully come back to the moment you reawaken your senses and affirm to yourself that you are present
You are alive
All is well
Soften back into the moment
Feel hear and sense
Each time your attention drifts you have an opportunity to reawaken your senses and come back to a state of ease
Listen again to the sounds that are here
Feel the moment-to-moment experience
Feel your heart and reopen your senses to the mystery of life of being alive
Emotions come and go and change like the breath
Some are strong like a deep breath
But they all change
When we learn to experience our emotions as a part of the natural landscape of our lives we feel each one as it comes
And we allow it
Part of experiencing the great mystery fully is understanding that everything is temporary
This breath will come and go
This frustration will come and go
This joy will come and go
The sun will rise and set again and again and again
Accepting that emotions like the breath and like the sun will rise and fall in a way is learning to accept what is
The night sky can be just as beautiful as the sun streaming through clouds
Learning to accept darkness rather than resist it allows us to appreciate the light
Accepting reality as it is rather than fighting it or living in illusion brings us contentment
Release and let go of resistance
And soften to the truth of what is
Soften to reality
Allow it to be
Get curious when emotions arise
How does your body respond
Does it clench and resist
Can you soften into it and deepen your awareness
Can you be kind to yourself through the discomfort
Breathe deeply and be gentle with yourself
Become aware of your breath
Your body
The sounds around you
And all that you can sense
Rest in this awareness for just a while longer
Feel the sensation of your heartbeat
The pulse of aliveness within you
And give yourself permission to come back
To this space of presence
Awareness and aliveness
Take a deep breath in
And thank yourself for spending this time in the moment
Move in any way your body would like
And when you're ready
Open your eyes
