Out of Jackson
To New Orleans
Nothing but cotton
And sky in between
I hit the road
With a heavy heart load
I said, "Where's my baby
Where'd my baby go?"
It wasn't a fight
More an ongoing drain
That's why she left that night
That night it rained
She said through tears
"It's not your fault,
I just want more out of life
Than what I've got."
There's not a whole lot of towns in between
Jackson and New Orleans
When I find my baby
You know we'll both go crazy
I'll live with her down there
She can find herself
I'll find a job that needs some help
Everyone's an artist in Jackson Square
Down there
Well the night's so dark with only headlights to light
And the dark's so cold when you're alone on the road
Well there's lights on the horizon
What could they mean
It's just another town in between
Jackson
And New Orleans
You go from Jackson
To New Orleans
Out of Jackson
To New Orleans
