For they refused themselves to serve our Lord
And unto Lucifer turned all their love
The vanity of the riches, which on earth
Is morn and eve by all the generations
Round through that air with solid darkness stain'd
Like to the sand that in the whirlwind flies
We screamed, but our cries were swallowed by the void, unheard, unheeded
And as the days turned into years, and the years into an eternity
