Randy the Poet - Opiate Haze Lyrics

I was lost in the canyon for three days
I was high and delusional
The sky started swirling around me
And then I heard the wolves howl
I found an old lady in the mesa
She gave me food and shelter for the night
She had a daughter who just fit right
In the stories of olden times

I flickered out with the fire
She was painted on the walls
When I heard an echo coming down from the
Hills
And then I saw her frown
She said you got to leave son
Where am I supposed to go in the middle of my
Opiate haze

I ran into a coyote he started speaking in his native tongue
He showed where the water was flowing
So I took a drink from his cup
He led me to to a place that hasn't be inhabited in 20 years
Lying down on the pavement I heard myself thinking out loud

A myriad of children came up to me to tell me I wasn't welcome on their land
I was waving my arms frantically trying to appeal to their basic needs
When the daughter of the old lady came rushing to my side
Burning the children with a flame as we made our escape

I flickered out with the fire
She was painted on the walls
When I heard an echo coming down from the hills
And then I saw her frown
Say told me you got to leave son it's not safe for you here
But where am I supposed to go in the middle of my opiate haze
