Ali Jaber was a fifteen years old
He lived in the gaza strip near the coast
Every morning he saw some fishing boats
And every time he dreamed of getting on
He wanted to be like his dad
Who before the war was a fisher man"We will fish together I promise you son"
He told him when he left for the front
One day his mama told him"You can't leave home son"
One day his mama told him"When you hear the siren go to the basement floor"
Ali Jaber now every morn
Hear the sound of guns and bombs
Ali Jaber now every morn
Pray that his father knocks on the door
The memory of the sea slowly faded away
But what his father promise still remain
He was not yet aware
That his dream would become a nightmare
One day his mama told him"We have to leave home son"
One day his mama told him"We can't stay here no more"
Ali Jaber and his mum
Left the country following the sun
He got on a boat for the first time
But he didn't think it would be this like
Days in the high sea without supplies
Everybody knew that somebody will die
One day black clouds were coming
Everybody there was praying and hoping
That day his mama told him"If I die tonight, I'll still be with you"
That day his mama told him"Don't forget what you've been through"
Ali Jaber now reached the land
Even if he's alone by himself
The future seems brighter than the past
He will make it for his father and mum
He hopes that his stay in Europe will last
And they'll welcome him as an ordinary man
