THE OPEY'S - UNDER THE EVERGREEN Lyrics
Official

There's a story of a farm down by the bay
That the locals say is haunted to this day
An old farmer and his lovely wife, long passed away
But on a moonlit night, they still come out to play
During harvest time, they'd work their fields all day
From sunup to sundown the locals say
Together they'd bring their goods to town, every other day
To the merchant mill so they could earn their pay
But on a harvest moon, the old evergreen is where they went to play
To laugh and sing their troubles all away
Under the moonlit sky and the evergreen, he'd sing to her they say
As the evergreen would begin to dance and sway
Dance and sway the night away
And as the winter nights went by
By the fire, he'd sing her lullabies
And every night, she'd slowly close her eyes
And dream the sweetest dreams to those lullabies
Well it's harvest time again, down by the bay
So I took a drive out by the farm today
As the sun went down and the moon came up, you hear them play
Under the evergreen, as it began to sway
Cause' on a harvest moon the old evergreen is where they went to play
To laugh and sing their troubles all away
Under the moonlit sky and the evergreen, he'd sing to her they say
As the evergreen would begin to dance and sway
Dance and sway the night away
