oliver bryan kings - what are you so afraid of Lyrics

'Cause I'm afraid
I'm afraid
I'll die young
I'm afraid
I'm afraid
I'll die young

What are you so afraid of
Is it love or wasting time?
I've tried finding loving for eighteen years
And no luck that I don't feel the spark when I look in their eyes
Sadly
It's been getting tiring that I try to bring myself to try
But I've never fell in love with anyone and I can't deny
Whenever ever it gets rough I brush it off
Pure ignorance how are you supposed to grow when you don't climb
It's like talking to happiness and sadness
Now where the sorrow goes
Unless someone dies then sorrow will come back
Praying to the heavens above hoping you were even enough
Home is where you feelings roam
While your brothers feelings are stuck in stone
Abused and bruised from parents that were stone cold
Living to expectations from a childhood that was robbed

My father never talked a lot
He just took a walk around the block
'Til all his anger took a hold of him and found ways to let it rot
And then he'd hit my mother that took the punches, but she never fought
But always cried in those long ride nights

While young me isn't even born yet and he was just a little snot
My brothers are the ones that had to fight for the slot
Hot shot, no stop
When the ego takes a hold of the odds

'Til one day she said, "I'm leaving, and I'll take the kids"
So she did then would come back on repeat
Tried to stand on her own two feet
Moving from street to street
Always going left and never find the right street
He would always cheat
The go out of his way to get drunk and beat her
My brothers would try to protect her
And he'd bash them on their head
And they wonder if they ever deserved this
How could you hurt a little kid?

Do you know what we all did to try to undo it?
So much drugs and alcohol can't refuse it
For all of our pain and all your excuses
They were just kids but they weren't clueless
To realize that someone who loves you wouldn't do this

All of our past, we tried to erase it
Why must we embrace it
But now we see, would we even change it?
Might share a face and share a last name, but
We are not the same
'Cause now I'm scared that everyone I love will leave me

God
I have my father's eyes
But my mothers when I cry
I can run
But I can't hide
From my family line
