I read in the paper
Where they're taking down
The cross from the school
On the other side of town
They say it might offend
Those that don't believe
What about those that do
Why are we left to grieve
Why must we grieve
Those that still believe-in Jesus Christ
Why must we cry
Cause others deny
His sacrifice
Why must we weep
Why can't we keep
His cross on high
Does it offend
A few sinful men
Who'd rather defy
I saw on the TV
Where we can not pray
Before a sports game
Not one word can we say
They are hiding His picture
So they can not see
The one that died for them
So that they could be free
Why must we bow
Why must we allow-this to go on
This is our home
Why must we moan
Let them be gone
Just let us pray
The same old way
We did before
If it offends
No offense my friends
But there's the door
