I was born in the country and I was country raised
Joined a little country church where God is always praised
We shout out hallelujah and sing "amazing grace"
We long to see our Jesus and gaze upon His face
Oh that little country church where I was baptized
Where truth and honesty is so highly prized
Where your friends and neighbours won't leave you in the lurch
I'm so glad that I was raised in that little country church
I was married in that church when I was twenty four
Surrounded by all my friends now who could ask for more
And in the years that followed we had a family
And in that little country church they were baptized like me
Now when my life is over and from this world I leave
I know my friends and neighbours will all be there to grieve
I know the congregation will sing "abide with me"
And from that little country church I'll enter eternity
