When the sun is too bright, shining on your face
I wanna intercept its light, I wanna be your shade
But little did I know, that you would only see me
For nothing more, than my utility
A place to rest before, beginning your journey
From the Arden's shelter, to structures of concrete
It must have been my, natural instincts
That lead me to believe you'd chosen me exclusively
When the sun is too bright, shining on your face
I wanna intercept its light, I wanna be your shade
But little did you know, that the same adversity
Which made you seek shade, made my roots run deep
And easily I've grown, by converting to energy
What you would see, as a negativity
So no matter how long you lie, in the heart of industry
You'll never hinder my leaves from blooming
You feel like spring, like warm air coursing through everything, yeah
You feel like spring, like cool air after the cleansing rains, yeah
When the sun is too bright, shining on your face
I wanna intercept its light, I wanna be your shade
