Mona Mur - Orlowski Lyrics

Mona Mur - Orlowski Lyrics

[ Featuring Yishai Sweartz ]

Some of us had no loyalty to anyone
But some of us had full loyalty -
That's what I call the codes of the forest.
Let me tell you about a person called Orlowski
- he was a general in the KGB, a soviet partisan
Since the beginning of the war in Poland and Russia
He was our chief,or whatever you wanna call it.
He knew the Jewish people very well
Even knew a little bit of Hebrew
Even knew how to sing Hope Tikvah the Jewish anthem
A friendly person, we got along very well in the forest
Also, in the hierarchy, he was older than me,
Had more experience and more weapons.
He was the chief, he was the General.

One night, he was wounded from a bomb
He lost his arm and a leg
Total loyaIty means, that I took him back
I took care of him, I became his right hand in everything.
I took care of him as a brother.
And he told me: Misha ! What am I worth?
Even a kid can come and kill me on any given day in the forest..
I cannot defend myself, I don't have any power anymore.
I told him : Don't worry, I am with you, I will take care of you.
Until the end of the war.
And if someone would like to kill you, they have to go though me first.
Those are the Codes of the Woods. The Codes of the Forest.

I saw him as a man with a will of iron, a will that you cannot break.
Something that is totally unbreakable.
I helped him and I took care of him.
And he was still managing our whole team
Even though he could not join any of our activities anymore
But his mind was totally there
And his heart was totally there
He survived the war
And he went back to Russia.
I never saw him again.
But when I think about it
I would do the same again - without even thinking twice."
