Took a walk
To clear my head
And see the world
There was a hum
There was a wind between my hair
Recalled a place
A time where I felt safe
Invited in
And welcomed to your family
Supported
And held by it all
I was lucky
I'd never had it before
They liked it
Something to talk about
And that's when I knew
I was finally home
You took me into your family
And no one knew it at all
But I felt happy and tall
How lucky was I
Not a thought
Not a care
Not a pause went thru my mind
Pleasantly surprised
And I decided they were mine
Generous and welcoming
They always opened their arms
Not surprising that they liked me more than her
And then the door shut
It all came closing in
My world went from 40 to 1
And I didn't know
That it was closing in
How lucky was I
