They slept that night but I was just too sore
I tied their hands with tape and laid them on the floor
Told them all about this sharp things game we’d play
Now there’s this awful mess there where they lay

Only nine years old
But I know I’d done something right
They all ask me why I had so much trouble
Sleeping that night I said – we were playing dead

I woke up and moved, but they’re still playing
