God made it all, "it was very good",
Man walked in freedom, as God said he could.
But the serpent spoke, "Did God really say?",
Then man sinned, from God falling away.
Can we be saved, forgiveness receive?
Can anything be done to erase our grief.
When only God could cancel this debt.
What God would arrange to pay it instead?
"For unto us a Child is born,"
The promised One to carry our sorrow.
"To take our pain, and bear our sin,"
Through Christ alone, new life can begin.
God called to Abram, "Go from your land,"
"Through you, all nations will be blessed"-a deliverance planned.
He had faith in the promise, though it seemed far away,
With trembling hands, even lifted the knife in dismay.
Foreshadowed love, a Father's sacrifice,
A glimpse of Christ to pay an atoning price.
Could this be true, a covenant to bless all?
From Abram's line, one to redeem the fall?
When only God could keep this vow,
Who will be this One to save us now?
"For unto us a Child is born,"
The promised One to carry our sorrow.
"To take our pain, and bear our sin,"
Through Christ alone, new life can begin.
Through desert sands and starry skies,
The years rolled on, and prophets cried.
But in a manger, small and bright,
God's Word fulfilled in the birth of Christ.
From Eden's fall to Bethlehem's night,
God's promise kept, love shining bright.
From Abraham's line to the manger bed,
Christ came to crush the serpent's head.
"For unto us a Child is born,"
The promised One to carry our sorrow.
"To take our pain, and bear our sin,"
Through Christ alone, new life can begin.
"For unto us a Child is born,"
The promised One to carry our sorrow.
"To take our pain, and bear our sin,"
Through Christ alone, new life can begin.
