You make my heart burst
Into a vast sea of pines
Maples fall first
As the sun starts to shine
As I look outside the cabin
The snow starts to stick
And a tiny brown rabbit
Darts away quick
The smell of warm syrup
Fills my cold nose
I find my worn sweater
And on it goes
Embers glow bright
Crackling fire in the place
Now it is night
And a smile's on my face
You are there with me
Bundled up by the fire
Reading a book
By Ernst Walter Mayr
A mug of warm cider
Heats up your hands
The speaker is playing
Our favorite band
I study law
While you tend to your bees
Sister makes a wreath
From the bark of our trees
Brother's on the phone
Recapping his day
Though miles from home
We're here to stay
The distance between us
Can be difficult to bear
When I just want to hug you
So you know that I care
I want to sit on our couch
And watch a good movie
The stove popping popcorn
The blender a smoothie
But we'll be there soon
Together at last
Keep your head up
Time's moving fast
When you look at your pupils
Those ungrateful teens
Know that soon we will find
The mountains of green
