That house that blew down
Down the street
Was where we'd settle down
According to the blueprints
Of my daydreams
Now that it fell
I'm saying goodbye
Cause that seems easier
Than keeping on the lights
You must admit
Whatever form it takes
That falling's quite the fright
I should drop the poetry
And tell it to you straight
In fifteen minutes will you hold
The same convictions that you now
Proclaim so sweetly
Are you sure it won't grow bitter
In your mouth
Oh god the seasons change
And trees that once were proudly green
They throw their cherished leaeves
Down to the pavement so easily
I should drop the poetry
And tell it to you straight
All I see in the way of the dream
Is a monster I cannot name
Look he's not even hideous
He probably means well
So I let him stay
In the dark there's a creak
That I'm sure means you're leaving
Without parting words
But I do not investigate
Just stay here and shiver
And dream up the worst
So my man and I we parted ways
Cause I convinced myself
Tomorrow couldn't be as good a day
But now I'm standing just outside your gate
So let me drop the poetry
And tell it to you straight
