Lainey Wilson - Sayin' What I'm Thinkin' Lyrics

Neon Diamonds

My left hand ain't interested in nothin' but a drink in it

Yeah, I'll have this dance, I like this song it's got some swing in it

You ain't Johnny and I ain't June

But you can be my man in black tonight, baby, if you want to

Someday, I want the weddin'

Somethin' borrowed, somethin' blue

Flowers and a veil

And a sunset honeymoon

But tonight we ain't nothin'

But a downtown bride and groom

Gettin' hitched on whiskey vows

And exchangin' drunk I do's

With neon diamonds and smoke rings

Neon diamonds and smoke rings

I ain't one for champagne and them fancy crystal stem glasses

'Fore I settle down, I'll probably have to kick some bad habits

'Til last call do us part

And we ain't gotta get married to pretend we are

Someday, I want the weddin'

Somethin' borrowed, somethin' blue

Flowers and a veil

And a sunset honeymoon

But tonight we ain't nothin'

But a downtown bride and groom

Gettin' hitched on whiskey vows

And exchangin' drunk I do's

With neon diamonds and smoke rings

Neon diamonds and smoke rings, yeah

'Round and 'round

Someday, I want my daddy to give me away

I know I want forever, just not today

Neon diamonds (neon diamonds) and smoke rings

Neon diamonds (neon diamonds) and smoke rings

Neon diamonds and smoke rings

Neon diamonds (neon diamonds) and smoke rings

My left hand ain't interested in nothin' but a drink in it

Sunday Best

Well, I pulled up
To that church of Christ
With a broken heart
And bloodshot eyes
Too hungover to go inside
So, I hung my head and drove on by

And I don't feel like Hallelujah
With this aching in my chest
So here I sit out on some backroad paper sack and Marlboro reds
Drinking in my Sunday best

Thought I really, really knew him well
He was the one, far as I could tell
But last night I caught him with somebody else
And yeah, that preacher's son can go to hell

And I don't feel like Hallelujah
With this aching in my chest
So here I sit out on some backroad paper sack and Marlboro reds
Drinking in my Sunday best

And yeah, I know that I'll get over him in time
But right now forgiveness ain't something I can find

And I don't feel like Hallelujah
With this aching in my chest
So here I sit out on some backroad paper sack and Marlboro reds
Drinking, and I'm a mess
Yeah, I'm drinking in my Sunday best

When I pulled up to that church of Christ
Oh, I'm gonna be here just drinking
You're somethin' silly
Hell, Jesus turned water to wine
Mm, pour me another one, hahaha
Whoo, I'm drunk

Things A Man Oughta Know

I can hook a trailer on a two-inch hitch
I can shoot a shotgun, I can catch a fish
I can change a tire on the side of a road
Yeah, I know a few things a man oughta know

How to know when it's love
How to stay when it's tough
How to know you're messin' up a good thing
And how to fix it 'fore it's too late
And yeah, I know a boy
Who gave up and got it wrong
If you really love a woman, you don't let her go
Yeah, I know a few things a man oughta know

If I can't have it, I can do without
I can hang a picture same as I can take it down
And how to keep it hidden when a heart gets broke
Yeah, I know a few things a man oughta know

How to know when it's love
How to stay when it's tough
How to know you're messin' up a good thing
And how to fix it 'fore it's too late
And yeah, I know a boy
Who gave up and got it wrong
If you really love a woman, you don't let her go
Yeah, I know a few things a man oughta know

I...

How to know when it's love
How to stay when it's tough
How to chase forever down a driveway
How to never let it get there in the first place
And yeah, I know a boy
Who gave up and got it wrong
If you really love a woman, you don't let her go
Well, I know a few things a man oughta know
Yeah, I know a few things a man oughta know

Small Town Girl

Yeah, a small town girl oughta know better
Than to ride through town on a Friday night
Go haulin' 'round stuff that belongs to another
And leanin' on over at a red light
That's right

Yeah, a small town girl oughta grow up knowing
That 'round here you can't be a liar
One little spark gonna wind up smoking
That sh- gonna spread like a wildfire

Like the roots running through southern ground
Word gets out when you get around
If I was you, I'd be on the lookout
'Cause it's a small town
It's a small town, girl

Yeah, a small town boy shoulda learned from his mama
Hell has no fury like a woman scorned
There's a big backlash on backroad drama
'Cause girls like you ain't nothing more

Than the roots running through southern ground
Word gets out when you get around
If I was you, I'd be on the lookout
'Cause it's a small town
It's a small town, girl

Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh

There's one Walmart, one church, one bar
I know these roads, I know your car
You can run and you can hide
But it's just a mile wide
The truth catches up in a small town, woo
Oh yes, it does

Like the roots running through southern ground
Word gets out when you get around
If I was you, I'd be on the lookout
'Cause it's a small town
Like a train traveling south bound
Word gets out by word of mouth
If I was you, I'd be on the lookout
'Cause it's a small town
It's a small town, girl

Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Well, it's a small town, girl
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Well, it's a small town, girl

LA

My name ain't on every list
But they say I'm where the party is
I drive a Beamer through the mud
Well, I'm kinda redneck Hollywood

When you say LA, I think Louisiana
Lower Alabama, stars up in the sky
And I ain't been to California
Way too far from Georgia
But one day I might

Bet there's more of us around
From a different name, same small town
Gucci lace can dress it up
But country is as country does

When you say LA, I think Louisiana
Lower Alabama, stars up in the sky
And I ain't been to California
Way too far from Georgia
But one day I might

oh, oh

Dom Pérignon in Dixie cups
Kinda redneck Hollywood
Joplin meets Naomi Judd
Kinda redneck
Dom Pérignon in Dixie cups
Kinda redneck Hollywood
Joplin meets Naomi Judd
Kinda redneck

When you say LA, I think Louisiana
Lower Alabama, stars up in the sky

Dirty Looks

I know it's been a long day, you been haulin' that hay
You need a break from workin' in the sunshine
So you met me in here for a couple of beers
Just to wash away that overtime

Now you're sayin' that you wish you would've cleaned up
But you know I don't care about that
When you're leanin' in and kissin' me
And I can't stop kissin' you back

Gettin' dirty looks from people at the bar
Gettin' dirty looks like, "Don't you know where you are?"
Gettin' dirty looks like everybody's got somethin' to tell us
But they ain't nothin' but jealous, baby
Somethin' 'bout rough hands on a hard-workin' man
I just wanna get all over you
Like the dirt on your shirt and your jeans and your boots
If you ask me, dirty looks
Good on you, boy, good on you, boy
Good on you

Everyone in the room is like, "Y'all get a room"
We gon' do what we want to, let 'em stare
Keep 'em comin' like nobody's there
Baby, I don't care

If we're gettin' dirty looks from people at the bar
Gettin' dirty looks like, "Don't you know where you are?"
Gettin' dirty looks like everybody's got somethin' to tell us
But they ain't nothin' but jealous, baby
Somethin' 'bout rough hands on a hard-workin' man
I just wanna get all over you
Like the dirt on your shirt and your jeans and your boots
If you ask me, dirty looks
Good on you, boy, good on you, boy
Good on you, dirty looks
(Good on you, boy, good on you, boy)
(Good on you)

Now you're sayin' that you wish you would've cleaned up
But I kinda like it better when he don't
You're leanin' in and kissin' me
Baby, just take me home

Gettin' dirty looks from people at the bar
Gettin' dirty looks like, "Don't you know where you are?"
Gettin' dirty looks like everybody's got somethin' to tell us
But ah, they're just jealous
Somethin' 'bout rough hands on a hard-workin' man
I just wanna get on you
Like the dirt on your shirt and your jeans and your boots
If you ask me, dirty looks
Good on you, boy, good on you, boy
Good on you, dirty looks
Good on you, boy, good on you, boy
Good on you, dirty looks

Pipe

Wanna know the truth? Well, I wrote it down
I got a PhD in thinkin' out loud
No book to buy, it's more like a list
It ain't long, kinda goes like this

Tell it like it is, don't sugarcoat it
Take it to the bank so you can't blow it
Use a little duct tape if you done broke it
When it don't start, you might have to choke it
If it gets too tall, you can just mow it
Ain't tall enough, sit back and grow it
And if you gotta drawl, you best just own it
So put a little "y'all" in your pipe and smoke it

Can't find a barstool, just find a porch
Hell, whiskey's cheaper at the liquor store
When life gets you down, go buy a dog
And in the end, you'll be better off

If you tell it like it is, don't sugarcoat it
Take it to the bank so you can't blow it
Use a little duct tape if you done broke it
When it don't start, you might have to choke it
If it gets too tall, you can just mow it
Ain't tall enough, sit back and grow it
And if you gotta drawl, you best just own it
So put a little "y'all" in your pipe and smoke it

(Whoo, whoo)
Yeah, hit that for me one more time
(Whoo, whoo)

And if it gets too tall, you can just mow it
Ain't tall enough, sit back and grow it
And if you gotta drawl, you best just own it
So put a little "y'all" in your pipe and smoke it

Smoke it
Smoke it
Smoke it

Keeping Bars In Business

My best friend's ship is sinkin'
She thinks her man's been cheatin'
And me, I put my dog down yesterday
And when the walls start fallin'
I can hear the whiskey callin'
Sounds like we could both just use a drink

Ain't that how life goes?
No, we ain't alone

Someone's cryin', someone's kissin'
Someone's smilin', someone's bitchin'
Someone's celebratin'
While someone's heart is breakin'
If you're on cloud nine or you've been knocked down
There's a neon light on the edge of town
So if the world just keeps on spinnin'
We'll be keeping bars in business

There's a couple in a back booth
Just got back from Cancun
Getting Blue Moon drunk in that honeymoon phase
And by the window, there's an old man
With a ring still on his left hand
Even though she's been gone
Ten years to the day

Someone's cryin', someone's kissin'
Someone's smilin', someone's bitchin'
Someone's celebratin'
While someone's heart is breakin'
If you're on cloud nine or you've been knocked down
There's a neon light on the edge of town
So if the world just keeps on spinnin'
We'll be keeping bars in business
Keeping bars in business

Yeah, ain't that how life goes?
No, we ain't alone
No, we ain't alone

Someone's cryin', someone's kissin'
Someone's smilin', someone's bitchin'
Someone's celebratin'
While someone's heart is breakin'
If you're on cloud nine or you've been knocked down
There's a neon light on the edge of town
So if the world just keeps on spinnin'
We'll be keeping bars in business
Keeping bars in business

Yeah, life is hard, so it ain't hard
Life is hard, so it ain't hard
Life is hard, so it ain't hard
Yeah, ain't that how life goes?

Straight Up Sideways

There's a reason why we put a week of work in
So we can do whatever we want on the weekend
It's when you take your blue collar off and let your neck turn red
Everybody does it just a little different
So when we wind up all the same, what's the difference?
Yeah, you better get to livin' it up before you wake up dead

A-tip 'em back 'til you can't walk
Cut loose like a chainsaw
Plastered like a drywall
Hammered like an old bent nail
Jacked up like a four-by
'Bout as buzzed as a Bud Light
Long gone as last night
Loaded like a buckshot shell
There's more than one way
To get straight up sideways

You can do it in the sticks in Mississippi
Or on a rooftop, New York City
From the Carolina Coast to a California beach
Y'all raise one up with me

Tip 'em back 'til you can't walk
Cut loose like a chainsaw
Plastered like a drywall
Hammered like an old bent nail
Jacked up like a four-by
'Bout as buzzed as a Bud Light
Long gone as last night
Loaded like a buckshot shell
There's more than one way
To get straight up sideways
Straight up sideways

A-tip 'em back 'til you can't walk
Cut loose like a chainsaw
Plastered like a drywall
Hammered like an old bent nail
Jacked up like a four-by
About as buzzed as a Bud Light
A-long gone as last night
Loaded like a buckshot shell
There's more than one way
More than one way
To get straight up sideways, woo
Straight up sideways
Put 'em up

WWDD

Big heart, big smile
Big voice on the radio dial
Like a country music modern day apostle
Yeah, I leaned in like it was gospel

W-W-double-D
That's the bottom line for me
My go to compass and my golden rule
When life rings my southern bell
I just gotta ask myself, hell
What would Dolly do?

In them heels
In that dress
Wouldn't put up with no BS
She'd kill ya with some kindness, take the high road
Turn a little rain into a rainbow

W-W-double-D
That's the bottom line for me
My go to compass and my golden rule
When life rings my southern bell
I just gotta ask myself, hell
What would Dolly do?

Didn't let dirt poor hold her back
And getting told no, it don't mean jack
Ain't scared of nothing ain't nobody's fool
Don't put up with heartbreak boys like you

W-W-double-D
That's the bottom line for me
My go-to compass and my golden rule
When life rings my southern bell
I just gotta ask myself, hell
What would Dolly do?

Oh, I said, hell what would Dolly do?
Hey, what would Dolly do?

Rolling Stone

Waking up here in your arms
I feel like a queen in your king size bed
The sun's lightin' up your face in the dark
And I see the wheels turnin' in your head

Think you're the one that's gonna turn me around
Give me a ring and settle me down
Got a little hold on me, don't get me wrong
But, baby, my heart runs wild and free
You gotta know 'fore you fall for me
Like a feather in the wind, I could be gone
You don't give a rock to a rolling stone

A home to you is a handed down farm
Little house on the back of your grandpa's land
Home to me is this old guitar
Yeah, a country song and a beat up van

Think you're the one that's gonna turn me around
Give me a ring and settle me down
Got a little hold on me, don't get me wrong
But, baby, my heart runs wild and free
You gotta know 'fore you fall for me
Like a feather in the wind, I could be gone
You don't give a rock to a rolling stone

Ain't got a thing to do with love
I was born to roll like a tumbleweed does
And I belong to a long highway
And there it goes, callin' my name
Callin' my name
Callin' my name

Think you're the one that's gonna turn me around
Give me a ring and settle me down
Got a little hold on me, don't get me wrong
But, baby, my heart runs wild and free
You gotta know 'fore you fall for me
Like a feather in the wind, I could be gone

Sayin What Im Thinkin

I don't have a filter like this cigarette
Ask me my opinion, that's what you're gonna get
You know I don't say "dang" when I mean "damn"
With you, I've only ever been who I am

I can't lie to you 'cause I can't lie to me
So don't ask if you don't want total honesty
I've been drivin', I've been cryin', but I swear I ain't been drinkin'
Even I can't believe I'm sayin' what I'm thinkin'

Well, I'm good at hangin' on to what I'm holdin'
Well, I've never been a fan of sugarcoatin'
You know I won't say "stay" when I mean "bye"
And I hope for your sake you don't ask why

I can't lie to you 'cause I can't lie to me
So don't ask if you don't want total honesty
I've been drivin', I've been cryin', but I swear I ain't been drinkin'
Even I can't believe I'm sayin' what I'm thinkin'

To tell the truth, I'm not sure which hurts worse
To be the one who hears or the one who says these words

I can't lie to you 'cause I can't lie to me
So don't ask if you don't want total honesty
I've been drivin', I've been cryin', but I swear I ain't been drinkin'
Even I can't believe I'm sayin' what I'm thinkin'
