K-St3rg - Deeper Than Rap Lyrics

Let's take it way back
Way way back
When I hooping in the summer time w j jack
I had black doui on to get the waves back
I used to lay back
I had the hoop dreams
Moved to Garfield - a new team
Different neighborhood it a new scene
Met some new people leaned a few things
Was the only freshman on the hoop team
Varsity was tough
Get good grades make good plays but good wasn't enough
No short cuts is what my dad taught me
Hoop gear the only thing my dad bought me
I was the gym like every morning when the kids snoring it was never boring
But my hips hurted I ignored warnings
Had to live up to the ones befo me
Mike d trey even tony
I looked up to
I had to pull thru
But
It went downhill
No one understand how Kyle feel
When ya Mind in it but yo body not
Had the coaches coming , then they finally stopped
Tried to play it thru then it finally poped
Hip surgery everybody shocked
Could I go d1? Shit prolly not
I was depressed and stressed I used to cry a lot
I came back strong... but It wasn't the same
College coaches - wasn't really saying my name
Remember days I didn't wanna go to my game
But a nigga had to face it Get a free education
Put to much time in just to have to waste it
It was coming to end I could feel it I could taste it
I can't quit
People doubted
College came I had the same problems
Guess the surgery didn't help at all
I hit a brick wall
Just wanted to ball
Where the closest cliff shit I might fall
I used to question just who I was
I asked God why he took away the only thing that I really loved
Next move cuz the time clocking
Coaches office he was hurtin taking
Sayin "son u need quit playing cuz if u keep playing u gone stop walking"
Admit the news wasn't that shocking
Hip problem like my whole life
Was a tough adjustment but tell me somthing
How u go from hooping like ya whole life
To just not playing thats a new life
Tears dropping on a few nights
I took a L once i couldn't lose twice
I wanna take my life into some heights
I asked rayed on how to do it
Never thought I lose it
Was talented I knew it I just to prove it focused on the music
And thats when Marr flar took me up to the stu
It was worth it tho I was nervous but I'm glad he came thru
Jah asked how many recorded
I replied wit like 2
Sweatin heavy recorded Legendary that's when he knew
The rest is history
What's the future holds is mystery
Cuz w the beats that's on his laptop
Got us feeling like we hit the jack pot
I can't stop
So when I'm feeling lazy in bed
I promise I won't forget just what my grandmother said
And that's real
So it's not gonna be easy, and your not gonna like it
But it's gonna help you the most
