Keith Howard - A Guy on a Journey Lyrics

Keith Howard - A Guy on a Journey Lyrics

I'm not who I once was, not all that I will become
I'm just a guy on a journey, and I'm trying so hard to make home
So here's a few observations from one lone passerby
People can make nothing out of something, eat, drink, be merry and die

Like you know, whatever, yeah right, I'm so sure
Oh no you di'nt, what, no way, not, duh

I say, "Hey old friend, how's things going?"
He say, "You know nothin' ever changes round here"
"Just the same soup warmed over,
And we end every day with a cheer"

But three died today, one in the emergency room
One was a soldier, and a baby cried out from his womb

But you know, whatever, yeah right, I'm so sure
Oh no you di'nt, what, no way, uh uh

La ti dai, la ti dai, la ti dai dai
La ti dai, la ti dai, la ti dai
Oh, oh, ho, ho, oh, ho, oh, oh ho
Nothin' ever changes round here

We have friends on our profiles, we are linked and we're liked
But our networks are not very social, we LOL but just not inside
Isolated all together, crowding cyberspace
Texting and sexting our children, Are we losing this human race?

And the church bells are ringing and the choir is singing
While the drug lords wreak havoc at will
And the preacher is preaching, and the teacher is teaching
But the lesson's unlearned even still
The politicians keep winning just to get caught in sinning
While the national credit freefalls
We are building and buying, borrowing and crying
Can we stand the dysfunction of it all?

But three died today, one in a human trafficking jam
One was left starving, and a vagrant fell prey to a scam

When the sacred turns silly and the truth mixes with the mundane
People can take holy things for granted only no one is taking the blame
We're like passengers waiting for a jet to lift off
We disregard safety instructions cause we're bored by the trivial
We take off from the crash scene when the orange cones are moved
Soon as the highway is ready to play
There's still rubble on the roadway, flashing lights in the rearview
But you better get out of our way

But three died that day, one was arrogant and rude
One was remorseful, and a pauper borrowed a rich man's tomb

But you know, whatever, yeah right, I'm, yeah right
Oh no He di'nt, what, no way, uh uh

La ti dai, la ti dai, la ti dai dai
La ti dai, la ti dai, la ti dai
Oh, oh, ho, ho, oh, ho, oh, oh ho
Nothin' ever changes round here

Just a few observations from one lone passerby
People can make something out of nothing, eat, drink, be merry and die
So I'm not who I once was, not all that I will become
I'm just a guy on a journey, and I'm trying so hard to make home
