The evening is over, the room is half empty
We've emptied our pockets drinking whiskey and beer
But we got time for one more round, boys, for the sake of the mem'ries
Then we don't have to go home, but, we sure can't stay here
Here's a toast to the first of the rest of the day
It's been a helluva night, but the night fades away
Here's a glass to the women, fair-minded and strong
And a glass to your health, may you live well and long
Here's a toast to all Irishmen, fearless and true
May your joys be plentiful, your troubles be few
One last glass for Old Ireland, long sing Her praise
And remember this night, for the rest of your days
The dome lights are blazing, the better to see you
And look into your eyes for one last parting glass
For the hope of the weary, the people triumphant
When the last shall be first and the first shall be last
Here's a toast to the first of the rest of the day
It's been a helluva night, but the night fades away
Here's a glass to the women, fair-minded and strong
And a glass to your health, may you live well and long
Here's a toast to all Irishmen, fearless and true
May your joys be plentiful, your troubles be few
One last glass for Old Ireland, long sing Her praise
And remember this night, for the rest of your days
And remember this night for the rest of your days!
