Get ready for my takeoff
Step back I'm not my best at it yet
I'm a little turbulent
I need a wide open space
To spread my wings
Things like my long neck
And lengthy torso
And my short legs
Make it hard to launch
But I won't let it stop me
Once I get going I'm flying
Like an albatross
Mastering my long-haul flight
Once I'm up here I get a good look
At the Early Cretaceous lakes below
That I call home
When I land I find the best spot
In the shallow water
Dunk in my long bill and take a big gulp
Tiny invertebrates filter through
My comb-toothed mouth
My lower jaw is one big bristly brush
1000 long thin teeth
Flexible but still made of dentine
It's nothing like you've ever seen
Yeah, we can't really not talk about this eye-catching beak
Hooked sharply upwards, almost the length of my skull
It's extraordinary
Then the rest of my body
Is quite small and light
I'm so agile when I catch great heights
Once I get going I'm flying
Like an albatross
Mastering my long-haul flight
Once I'm up here I get a good look
At the Early Cretaceous lakes below
That I call home
I get called a flamingo pterodaustro
It might be true I might be a rosy hue
From all these tasty brine shrimp
I'm slurping up every day
Must be why I don't need a fancy head crest
To catch all the attention
Not when I'm this bright beautiful colour
Once I get going I'm flying
Like an albatross
Mastering my long-haul flight
Once I'm up here I get a good look
At the Early Cretaceous lakes below
That I call home
