BloodPop

I was wonderin' 'bout your mama
Did she get that job she wanted?
Sell that car that gave her problems?
I'm just curious 'bout her, honest

Know you're wonderin' why I've been callin'
Like I've got ulterior motives
Know we didn't end this so good
But you know we had something so good

So I'm wondering, can we still be friends? (oh-oh)
Can we still be friends? (oh-oh)
Doesn't have to end
And if it ends, can we be friends?

Can we be friends?
Can we be friends?

Wonderin' if you got a body
To hold you tight since I left
Wonderin' if you think about me
Actually, don't answer that

Know you're wonderin' why I've been callin'
Like I've got ulterior motives
Know we didn't end this so good
But you know we had something so good

So I'm wondering, can we still be friends? (oh-oh)
Can we still be friends? (oh-oh)
Doesn't have to end
And if it ends, can we be friends?

Can we be friends?
And if it ends, can we be friends?

Know you're wonderin' why I've been callin'
Like I've got ulterior motives
Know we didn't end this so good
But you know we had something so good

I'm wondering, can we still be friends? (oh-oh)
Can we still be friends? (oh-oh)
Doesn't have to end
And if it ends, can we be friends?

Justin Bieber Friends Video

• This is Bieber's first single credited as lead artist to be released in over a year. The song is a collaboration with producer BloodPop.

• After the summer cancellation of the remainder of his summer Purpose world tour, fans were understandably pretty bummed. But it looks as though the singer is going the extra mile to make it up to them. On Sunday (one day before his "Friends" Instagram reveal), he tweeted out "Can we still be friends," which was a subtle tease to the song.

• Beth Shilliday of Hollywood Life concluded: "It has all of [BloodPop's] incredible beats that flow between pop and EDM so flawlessly. Just add the Biebs' sexy voice and it's the recipe for a musical win!" Maeve McDermott of USA Today opined that the song "finally jailbreaks Bieber from the soulless trop-house prison of his other EDM one-offs".
