John Kirk - The Exodus (Through the Red Sea) Lyrics

When we left Pharaoh the pillar of fire led the way
We travelled on then camped beside the sea
But when the people raised their eyes and saw Pharaoh's army
They cried out to the Lord and were full of fear

So I said stand still and do not fear
The Lord's Salvation is very near
Hold your peace now the Lord will fight
He'll remove this enemy from our sight, for the last time

The Angel of the Lord moved in between our camps
Becoming darkness to them yet light to us
And when I lifted up my rod God divided the sea
Then on dry land the people all followed me

But Pharaoh's army pursued us all
Then God opposed them and made them fall
God told me to stretch out my hand
To make the waters come back and cover all

The Lord saved Israel from death that day
And when the people saw the great works He had done
They all feared the Lord and believed in Him
Then they lifted up their voices to Him in song

The Promised Land is near we must go forward without fear
By our faith now we must lay hold of God's promises of old
And be bold
