I sit in my house this silent night,
Watching winter birds take flight,
It is Christmastime again this year,
And angels' songs we might hear,
A beautiful hymn of peace and love,
That was once brought from above,
On my mantle a candle burns bright,
To chase away all my lonely fright.
In this winter night You light,
The star above that is a sight,
For all of us who are so weary,
That You hold us all very dearly,
The night upon this silent Earth,
May this Christmas have mirth.
Here I sit in my lonely little house,
Where my only guest a single mouse,
I don't know what tomorrow bring,
But Christmas can be an empty thing,
For us who has no one around to see,
You who lit the star for those like me,
And I will make a song to remember,
That this is a beautifully cold December.
In this winter night You light,
The star above that is a sight,
For all of us who are so weary,
That You hold us all very dearly,
The night upon this silent Earth,
May this Christmas have mirth.
In this winter night You light,
The star above that is a sight,
For all of us who are so weary,
That You hold us all very dearly,
The night upon this silent Earth,
May this Christmas have mirth.
