Spring is out of memory, its light has disappeared
And heavy clouds begin to weigh on the shoulders of the world
Mid-winter begins calling, its darkling voice weaves round
The roots, the cars, the daylight and the tired leaves that hang
But let the winter roll on and the nights begin to close in
And the streetlights start to light up...
In this dour and drowsy sunlight my eyes glaze in a trance
As the shades of winter seep into everything
The temperature is falling, there is ice within the air
The frost is not long coming and my hands are cold
But let the winter roll on and the nights begin to close in
And the streetlights start to light up, the sky become deeper
The stars become brighter, the mist rise from rivers
And the moon become whiter, and let the winter roll on...
Leaves press against the window, they fill streets, parks and towns
I open up my window and let them fly into the room
For when these swiftly changing colours have settled at my feet
Love will be revealed like a tree beneath its leaves
So let the winter roll on and the nights begin to close in
The streetlights start to light up, the sky become deeper
Stars become brighter, mist rise from the rivers
And the moon become whiter; and the forests be touched by
The pale light of sunrise, the first frost come and cover
This carnival of changes and let the winter roll on
Let the winter roll on, let the winter roll on
But let the new year soon come and bring with it a new sun
