I'm getting back to basics
It's an effort wasted
There's nothing left of my former self
And I move forward by paces
After two years of weightlessness
The ground never felt so
Hard and i'm finding also
That I can't think of anything else
I had in common with my former self
I couldn't think of where to go from here
So quarter me and spread the pieces
To the corners of our town
Bury them so very deep
They won't be found
If time conspires and you consider this sacred ground
I hope the feeling brings you down
I'm getting back to basics
Though the efforts makeshift
There's nothing left of my other self
I find growing spaces
After two years of nothingness
The ground never felt so
Dark and deep and hollow
And I couldn't think of anything else
I had in common with my former self
I couldn't think of where to go from here
So quarter me and spread the pieces
To the corners of our town
Bury them so very deep
They won't be found
If time conspires and you consider this sacred ground
I hope the feelings bring you down
Down down
