Stitching in a straight line, no strain upon the seam
In my perfect universe, no patchwork would be seen
Early on my lifeline, in fate, we missed a stitch
And there a fatal parting of ways brought me to this
And all of those raw edges, were folded underneath, and finished to a perfect seam
Floral pattern prints, geometric designs, fabric bound in heart shapes, swatches sewn from life
Nothing quite complete, nothing quite the same
Sometimes the best we can hope for is a patchwork quilt
There beneath her beating heart, I found my first breath
Floral pattern patchwork, unable to connect
Fabric darned with heart's thread, life switched by fate
Forgotten nights, wrapped in cotton, memories never made
And all of those raw edges, still folded underneath, and finished to a perfect seam
Floral pattern prints, geometric designs, fabric bound in heart shapes, swatches sewn from life
Never quite complete, never quite the same
Sometimes the best we can hope for is a patchwork quilt
