You know it's not like I sit around thinking at night
Of all the many world problems I'm compelled to fight
There's racism, hunger, disease, and war
And the powers that be couldn't aggravate me more
But there's bigger problems that we deal with every day
So shut up and listen to what I have to say
There's toilet paper that unwinds from underneath the roll
There's interviewers asking you your five-year goal
Your co-worker reeks, and your boss is a jerk
And you're the only one that can't get Google Maps to work
There's that one hangnail that always grows back
And the dog hair is white, but your suit is black
It's a hell of a life, too much nitty gritty
With things that don't work and things that make you feel shitty
Expect aggravation and even annoyance
And if you're able, use extreme avoidance
You followed the instructions, but your pot brownies are weak
You thought you clenched hard enough, but then you heard a squeak
Your Tinder date looked hot and felt the way you did
But he failed to mention up front his 20-year prison bid
Your hair looks crummy when it's raining or it's muggy
You're in a rush, but stuck behind a friggin' Amish buggy
Your left armpit smells more than your right one
And your umpteenth pap smear is gonna be a lot of fun
(So much fun!)
It's a hell of a life, too much nitty gritty
With things that don't work and things that make you feel shitty
Expect aggravation and even annoyance
And if you're able, use extreme avoidance
The guy in the toll booth didn't have change for a $50
The driver of that Amish buggy's looking pretty shifty
It turns out there's no toilet paper in your stall
But when you call out for help, no one hears you at all
You put money on the Red Sox, but they lost on a sinker
The guy in front of you can't seem to find his blinker
You tried to jam on Zoom with the rest of your band
But the five-minute delay soon got out of hand
It's a hell of a life, too much nitty gritty
No wonder we're drowning in defeat and self-pity
First world problems are nothing to make light of
I'm sure they'll come to an end that we're almost in sight of
