I remember when I was younger
I learned it the hard way
How to earn the respect of others
To realize it's not innate
Some values I've always kept
Making up my own precepts
Can be hurtful to obtain respect
Until I saw what it reflects
Show respect!
Give it to yourself first!
How can you expect something
You've never really given?
You ask for respect and you reject yourself
Give it to your true self
You ask for respect and you reject yourself
It's your own life
Live it boldly!
I know it takes some courage
Making up your own precepts
Can be hurtful to obtain respect
Until you see your own image
No self-love, only anger
In the opposite lays the answer
And never stop questioning
