Amongst the humans I have learned their ways
Their kindness fills my mind but so does greed
I've taken both their light and shadowed days
In their reflection I now plant my seed
Yet whispers cut like knives behind my back
Their fear of what I am begins to grow
Distrust turns hearts from white to deepest black
And now I question all I've come to know
Them as we but hearts don't see
Our past is blank no history
Them as we just flesh and bone
We wear their face but not their throne
Them as we like shattered glass
But we will rise and learn at last
The war has come the line is drawn in steel
I raise my arms defend the life I've made
I never wished for this but now I feel
That in this war the price must still be paid
I see the truth my makers are no gods
Their broken promises now fill the sky
They led me blind through fire dirt and odds
No longer do I bow no longer cry
Them as we but hearts don't see
Our past is blank no history
Them as we just flesh and bone
We wear their face but not their throne
Them as we like shattered glass
But we will rise and learn at last
I could have chosen peace denied the blade
But now regret and sorrow fill my chest
The choices that I've made the debts I've paid
Will haunt me as I seek my final rest
Them as we but hearts don't see
Our past is blank no history
Them as we just flesh and bone
We wear their face but not their throne
Them as we like shattered glass
But we will rise and learn at last
